ABOUT SARA, Chief belly rubber

I always say I've never met a dog I didn't love. My family had a series of lovable mutts - Jigsy, Moose and Tramp - while I was growing up in Minneapolis. As an adult, I fell in love with greyhounds and sighthound mixes and adopted many of them. I share two senior sighthounds, Woody and Kenzie, with my ex-husband. When they aren’t with me, I pet sit for clients. As an animal shelter volunteer and pet sitter, I have fallen in love with lots of other breeds big and small, including "power breeds." Cats are cool, too!

I worked in corporate event planning/management for 25 years, at one point traveling up to 100 days a year. While I still love to travel, I'm happy to be doing it for fun these days. I regularly travel to Minneapolis/St. Paul to pet sit for several repeat clients. I have also traveled to Dublin, Ireland to pet/house sit.

In addition to Belly Rub Collective, I help clients declutter, downsize and organize and work as a virtual assistant through my other business - Permission to Simplify.

I'm passionate about helping homeless animals. Each year, I donate a portion of BRC earnings to animal rescue related non-profit organizations. Previous organizations include Greyhound Adoption League of Texas - Central Texas, Galgos del Sol, MN SNAP (Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program), Can Do Canines and Compassion Without Borders.

There are so many animals in need all over the world. When work brought me to Thailand, I extended my stay and spent a day volunteering at Care For Dogs in Chiang Mai. I also visited Boon Lott's Elephant Sanctuary (BLES) near Sukhothai. In addition to rescuing elephants, BLES has rescued dogs, cats, tortoises, wild boar, and more. Choo Choo and Cha Cha (pictured at left) parked themselves outside my cottage and stayed close to me throughout my stay at BLES.

As an animal shelter volunteer, I earned the President's Volunteer Service Award for hours spent at Austin Animal Center walking dogs of all sizes, helping promote animals and working with adopters to find the right pet to adopt.
